Historic Gold Medal Victory for FSM Swimmer Tasi Limtiaco at the 17th Pacific Games

In a historic moment for the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) at the 17th Pacific Games in Honiara, Solomon Islnds, the FSM Swimming Team has secured its first-ever gold medal in swimming. Tasi Limtiaco, Olympic athlete representing FSM, claimed the top spot in the finals of the 200 Meter Breaststroke, marking a significant milestone in our nation's sporting history.


Day 1 of the swimming events witnessed outstanding performances by FSM's talented swimmers – Tasi Limtiaco, Kyler Kihleng, and Kestra Kihleng. Tasi Limtiaco's journey to victory commenced with a stellar performance in the morning preliminary session, earning him a spot in the finals. In an exhilarating display of skill and determination, Tasi went on to secure the gold medal with an impressive time of 2:23.98.


Kyler Kihleng showcased his exceptional talent in the 400 Meter Freestyle with a commendable 6th place finish and a time of 4:38.62. Notably, Kyler's performance set a new FSM National Record.


Kestra Kihleng, competing in the 100 Meter Butterfly preliminary session, achieved a Personal Best time of 1:16.78, securing the 13th position.


FSM Swimming extends its sincere gratitude to the FSM National Olympic Committee for their unwavering support throughout the preparation and participation in the 17th Pacific Games. The generous backing from the FSMOC committee, funded through IOC Olympic Solidarity Grants, covered all aspects of the team's journey, including travel, accommodation, insurance, and travel allowances.


This milestone victory not only symbolizes the individual achievements of these swimmers but also reflects the collective strength and resilience of the FSM Swimming Team. The Federated States of Micronesia stands proud as it continues to make waves on the international sporting stage.
